Marina at Grimsby on a glorious sunny evening
I finally made it to Grimsby after a very long and hard day's sailing. This was the longest leg to date and thankfully there was plenty of wind so I managed to sail the whole way. The sea was a bit lumpy so I'm feeling rather battered and bruised from the journey - time to lay up for a day or two and rest my bones!
I discovered a few things I need to come to terms with:
1. When sailing you can't just take a nap no matter how much you want to.
2. I don't have the strength and stamina to set the sails as quickly as I used to.
3. When it's windy, DON'T FORGET THE FACTOR 30!
The journey took over 12 hours, and crossing the Wash there was no sign of any other boats or ships. There were occasional fly-pasts by RAF fighters doing exercises over the water, but other than that it was very peaceful.
I shall be checking out the fish markets here tomorrow.
