Poole Harbour to Cowes

After a wonderfully peaceful night's rest in Poole Harbour, I set off for the madness that is Cowes in August.

A misty start to the day

The wind has turned and is now coming from the East, and with unfavourable tides progress was rather slow. The skies remained clear and the temperature was high, so it was no hardship spending the day going nowhere fast.

Passing the sand bar at Hurst Point

Unfortunately all the sea birds and dolphins that have kept me company for so long have disappeared and have been replaced by boats. Many, many boats. Coming into the Solent I had to keep my wits about me to avoid bumping into some of them, and also to avoid the ferries which fly across at high speed and give way to no-one!
