Q. How do you get down from an elephant?
A. You don't; you get it from one of these fellas:

Eider duck loitering in marina
OK - enough corny jokes. It was a short but glorious day's sail up from Blyth; the first day I've managed to sail the whole way. The weather has warmed up although the wind was quite strong at times (up to force 6) so I was glad to get into Amble.
On the way into the harbour, I passed Coquet Island which was full of all sorts of sea birds including puffins. I took loads of photos of them, but looking at them afterwards it really is a matter of faith to say whether the tiny spots on the pictures were puffins or just specks on the lens. Fortunately the duck was more obliging, and came right up to the boat for a good close-up.
Amble is such a lovely place; the marina is right next to the town and is very well equipped. Like Blyth, the folk are extremely friendly and helpful.
