Oh, what a relief to be back on the boat and sailing again! It was a misty start so the radar was essential to pick a path through all the fishing boats, but by lunchtime the sun broke through and there was a wonderful view of the most spectacular coastline I've encountered so far.

Inner Farne Island in glorious sunshine
The sea around the Farne islands was full of seabirds, especially puffins. I couldn't get a good photo because as soon as I started to get close, they either flew off or dived below the water. Obviously very camera shy.

Bamburgh Castle from seaward

Lindesfarne
Shortly after passing Lindesfarne the mist rolled in again and I gingerly picked my way along the coast up to Eyemouth in Scotland. I thought the Northumberland folk were friendly, but the welcome here was amazing. The harbourmaster came down to the boat to welcome me and give me a visitor's pack with lots of useful information, and everyone says hello as you pass them in the street.
Unless the weather sets in tomorrow, I plan to bypass Edinburgh and head on up to Anstruther. Fingers crossed!
